A confederation dating to 1926
CIBJO states that it was established in 1926 and represents organisations across the jewellery, gemstone and precious-metals sectors. Its membership is institutional rather than a public register of individually verified jewellers.
Associations, companies and international bodies
The current membership structure includes national associations, commercial members, international associations, service providers and a supporter category. Voting is weighted between national-association members and other eligible member groups.
Standards continue to move
CIBJO’s commission work keeps its Blue Books and material guidance under review. Its published 2025 coloured-stones report described opal and jade guides in development and a wider Blue Book update planned for later presentation.
