A pledge placed in the passport
A Republic of Palau directive dated 7 December 2017 established the Palau Pledge as the official entry visa stamp. The promise is addressed to Palau’s children and links arrival with responsibility.
Responsibility still needs live instructions
The pledge asks visitors to act in an ecologically and culturally responsible way. Site rules, protected-area instructions, operator credentials and current entry requirements remain separate controls that must be checked.
Education became part of the framework
Palau’s Responsible Tourism Education Act of 2018 embedded visitor acknowledgement and education in law, moving the pledge beyond a voluntary campaign message.
